![]() I'd never used Grab before, so just did so. Preview seems to behave better with.png images. Is the image you want to annotate one from a regular screenshot (Command-Shift 4 or Command-Shift-3)? Or one using Grab? Reason I ask - a regular screenshot should create a.png format image, while Grab (as I recall) creates a.jpg image. Now - why is the Rectangle tool grayed out in your case. ![]() Use the Color Menu to adjust the opacity - select 'More colors' from that menu to get to the controls. You can achieve the same using the Rectangle tool by setting the line-width to max, then drawing a rectangle across the text you want to highlight. OK, just rebooted into Snow Leopard.Īpparently the Line tool was added with Lion - it's not in Snow Leopard, so would not be in Leopard. I know of nothing bundled with the Mac OS that lets you do this, As simple as it sounds, it's somewhat complex task 'under the hood,' requiring a program that recognizes and creates layers to which attributes can be built up. Once you have that software (PhotoShop Elements should let you do this), the program will allow you to draw a rectangle around the text and then fill it with a color and set the transparency to about 20-40 percent. It's now a picture, so you need photo editing software more robust than iPhoto to add that 'highligher' effect. Can someone help? Oh, and I do know that the 'text' isn't really considered to be text at this point Exactly. But it's too late to call him, and he's fairly irrascible anyway. ![]() I know this is possible because a guy I work with does it all the time. It seems that the thing to do is to choose Tools > Mark Up, but Mark Up is grayed out. I've tried everything I can think of but so far no dice. I want to highlight part of the text in the text in this picture as if I were using a yellow highlighter marker. I did a screen grab from imdb (Internet Movie DataBase) off the Internet. ![]() Word 2016 comes with a digital highlighter pen that lets you mark up and colorize the text in your document without damaging the computer's monitor. ![]()
